WHAT:  City of Laredo Water Treatment Free Chlorine Conversion from Chloramine Disinfection

WHEN:  Saturday, August 27, 2022; duration of approximately 30 days

WHERE: Throughout the City of Laredo Water System

WHY:  The free chlorine conversion is performed as annual distribution system best management practice and as part of the updated Nitrification Action Plan (NAP).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  the City of Laredo uses chloramines as a primary means of disinfection in the water distribution system.  Chloramines are formed by the combination of chlorine and ammonia.  Periodically converting the water system to free chlorine disinfection helps prevent accumulation of excess ammonia in the system and nitrification.

During this period, you may experience taste and odor changes associated with this type of temporary disinfectant conversion.

Water & Sewer services will not be affected by this work.
